The Joe and Debbie Giglio Home
308 Keeney Avenue
Joe and Debbie Giglio purchased their home at 308 Keeney Avenue in Oakbourne Subdivision in 2005.
"We were excited to be getting a larger home with more property. Although all of our children were grown and out of the house, we wanted a place to entertain our family, grandchildren and friends. One of the first things we did was to hire landscape architect Lue Svendson to draw a plan for a new look for the front yard. Those plans included a circular drive with large brick walkways leading to the front door. Around the drive and walkways are crepe myrtles, knockout roses, sasanquas, dwarf Indian Hawthrone, agapanthus, azaleas, sweet bay magnolias and willow oaks."
The backyard consists of three areas: a 'party' area, a 'work' area and a 'play' area. We put a Rainbow Play System in the play area for the grandkids, but then needed some shade. We added three River Birch trees for quick shade, and Willow Oaks and a Bradford Pear for long-term shade. Rose of Montana climbs along the short front fence in the spring and summer. Last year, we added Nellie R. Stevens Holly, Azalea Indica, Clumping Bamboo, and sasanquas to provide privacy along the back fence line. The work area includes a greenhouse, and herb garden, and Peggy Martin roses. The party area, directly behind the house, has a lush tropical feel, with palms, large hollies, sasanquas, azaleas, and agapanthus behind the pool. Containers and hanging baskets planted with annuals provide lots of seasonal color."
